Assistant, Market and Member Development

The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), a national medical society representing over 8,000 physicians has an immediate opening for an Assistant, Market and Member Development.

This position will support the market and member development team. Responsibilities include executing membership correspondence (mailings, list activities, etc.), scheduling meetings and conference calls, handling phone, email, fax and mail queries from members. Responsible for standard volunteer correspondence, coordinating and scheduling volunteer conference calls, sending reminders and handling agenda distribution. Additionally, responsible for providing member marketing communications tactical support as needed. Assists Associate Executive Director and other departmental staff with implementation of all departmental activities as they evolve.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to organize, structure, and communicate information and ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of association management processes; understanding of iMIS databases system, a plus.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to respond to Academy members, internal staff and others in a professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly manner.
  • Strong data entry skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe PDF.
  • Skills to independently organize and complete multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Knowledge of general office methods, procedures, practices and equipment, and filing and recordkeeping procedures.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within and across departments in order to achieve both departmental and organizational goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree with one or more years related experience.
  • Experience in a work environment with concurrent marketing and communications projects.
