AAPM&R is committed to maintaining a culture of volunteer feedback.

A pilot program is launching in fall 2013 to automate the feedback process in order to maximize the impact of volunteer insight.

AAPM&R is also committed to managing volunteer expectations. The Academy articulates its expectations in its governing documents and volunteer agreements.


AAPM&R recognizes that volunteerism involves sacrifice, but has policies and procedures in place to minimize inconvenience.




AAPM&R was built by PM&R professionals who came together to promote and advance the specialty. Today, the Academy continues to be powered by active, engaged volunteers. A volunteer structure is in place to support the vision and mission. The staff model in place supports the volunteer structure.




AAPM&R honors significant contributions to both the specialty and to people with disabilities. Honors are presented at the Annual Assembly.
