Strategic Plan
Long-Range Goals
The following represents The American Academy of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation’s draft long-range goals for the next 3-5 years. These goals
are outcome-oriented statements that represent what will constitute the
organization’s future success. The achievement of each goal will move the
association towards the realization of its vision.
GOALS
People with disabling conditions will benefit from increased healthcare
system investments of financial, intellectual, and human resources in
physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Quality of life will be improved by increased funding and activity in the
development, analysis, dissemination and application of physiatric and
rehabilitation-related research.
Academy members will be served by an organization that enhances their career
development and strengthens their professional identity.
Physiatrists will value the Academy as their primary source of education and
other rehabilitation professionals will recognize the Academy as a useful
educational resource.
Physiatrists will be recognized as possessing the essential and preferred
expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of
disabling conditions.
