The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s legislative, regulatory and grassroots’ advocacy activities and efforts are closely aligned with priority issues that affect the specialty of physiatry. Our staff serves its member physicians by advancing the specialty before Congress and the federal agencies. In addition, physiatrists know that restoring maximum function lost through injury, illness or disabling conditions is a major core of our practice; thus, we advocate on public policy issues related to persons with disabling conditions.
Physicians across the U.S. are becoming more active and influential in a unified movement to advocate on important health care issues. AAPM&R is counting on its over 8,000 member physiatrists to help make a difference by participating in upcoming advocacy campaigns that are intended to help improve practice and the lives of patients!
