Academy Comments on HHS Essential Health Benefits Bulletin

In early February, the Academy, through its Health Policy and Legislation Committee submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on the agency's proposed approach to implement the essential health benefits package of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) (as stated in the December 16, 2011 HHS Essential Health Benefits (EHB) Bulletin). The Academy provided comments regarding several areas of the bulletin including the state benchmarking model, oversight of patient and provider feedback, rehabilitation and habilitation services and devices, state mandates, chronic disease management and medical necessity.
