Research Advocacy

AAPM&R is actively involved in disability and rehabilitation research advocacy on Capitol Hill and at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for increased coordination and funding for medical rehabilitation research. AAPM&R believes that quality of life will be improved by increased research funding, inter-Institute coordination, and activity in the development, analysis, dissemination and application of physiatric and rehabilitation-related research. The Academy works collaboratively with the Disabilities & Rehabilitation Research Coalition (DRRC) on building bi-partisan Congressional support for rehabilitation research and fostering coordinated NIH efforts on rehabilitation research programs and grants.
