  • Venture across International Boulevard for a behind-the-scenes studio tour at CNN Studios.

  • Catch Madonna’s 2012 World Tour across the street at the Philips Arena, home to NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, on November 17.

  • Take a break at the world’s largest aquarium and visit the sharks and rays in their petting pool.

  • Catch a concert nearby at The Tabernacle, opened in 1910.

Venture beyond the downtown area for more interesting sites:

  • Atlanta History Center includes several historic homes and a museum, which is well known for its material on the Civil War and the south.

  • Dialogue in the Dark exhibit allows visitor to enter a world of sightlessness where environmental perceptions are conveyed through sound, temperature, texture, and wind.

  • High Museum of Art has an excellent collection of 19th and 20th century American and European art.

  • Jimmy Carter Library & Museum highlights his presidential years and his peace efforts around the world.

  • Outdoor activities can be found at Piedmont Park, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and Grant Park’s Atlanta Zoo.

  • Theatrical venues include Alliance Theatre, Center for Puppetry Arts, Fox Theater, Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse, and Variety Playhouse.

Day Trips
