Educational Program Information
Accreditation
The American Academy of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Program Planning Committee of the AAPM&R Medical
Education Committee developed the educational program this year in accordance
with the ACCME Essentials for developing continuing medical education.
Educational topics were selected on the basis of evaluation from previous
educational offerings, advice from special interest groups and councils of the
Academy, and the expert opinion of the Program Planning Committee. In every
session, the level of information, modes of presentation, and learning
objectives were developed to meet the needs of physiatrists. Educational
sessions that are appropriate for other physicians and health care professionals
are designated accordingly.
Designation of Credit
The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation designates this
educational activity for a maximum of 29 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
Workshops, 90-minute courses, and poster grand rounds will be available for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM
as noted in the Official Program. One credit is
awarded on the basis of one hour of participation in designated activities.
Registered physicians may apply for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM
for all the
CME sessions listed in this program. Guests are not eligible to receive these
credits.
General viewing of scientific posters is not designated for MA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM;
however, it does provide an opportunity for self-directed learning, for which
physicians may claim MA PRA Category 2 Credit(s)TM.
The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will award MA
PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM
for participation both as faculty and learner at the 2008
Annual Assembly. Faculty may be awarded two (2) AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM
for
each hour of original presentation at a live activity designated for such
credit. Faculty may not claim simultaneous credit as physician learners for
their presentations; however, they may claim participant credit for other
presentations they attend as learners at any designated live activity. Credit
may only be claimed once for repeated presentations. This credit acknowledges
the learning associated with the preparation of an original presentation. The
claiming of Faculty CME credit will be done after the meeting via a
postconference evaluation required by the ACCME.
International CME: The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
will award AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM
to international physicians for
participation in the educational sessions at the 2008 Annual Assembly.
