The Physiatrist: the official AAPM&R Membership Newsletter

The Physiatrist (pronounced fizz ee at' trist) is the official membership publication of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). The Physiatrist is read by over 7500 members - more than 87% of all board-certified physiatrists in the United States - providing advertisers an effective vehicle to showcase their institutions, products, and services.


Advertising
Classified Advertising

Classified advertising is available for recruiting personnel, positions sought, fellowships, practices and publications for sale, meeting announcements, CME opportunities for PM&R-related events, and open academic posts.

  • Graphics, logos, and borders are not permitted. Box numbers are not offered.
  • E-mail ad text to awatson@aapmr.org. Insertion in the desired issue is contingent upon receipt of payment.
Display Advertising

Display ads may be purchased in various sizes.

  • Camera-ready artwork preferred. Digital submission of ads in compliance with AAPM&R guidelines also accepted. Contact awatson@aapmr.org for digital submission guidelines. Faxed ads are not accepted.
  • Advertising insertions requiring typesetting or makeup are subject to additional charges.
  • Format and position are at the discretion of AAPM&R.
  • Trim size: 9.5"w x 14"d. Binding method: Saddle-stitch. Halftone screen: 133 line. Materials: Black & white artwork or negative film (emulsion down, right reading, must be registered by overlay). Color key or progressive proof must be supplied with color ad.
Online Physiatrists' Job Board

Online ads, employment-related only, can be purchased on AAPM&R's Physiatrists' Job Board.

  • Ads remain online for 30 days from date of purchase.
  • URL links to an advertiser's home page are permitted.
  • Graphics, logos, and borders are not permitted.
  • Employers can remove an online ad prior to its 30-day cycle, however, no refund will be issued.
  • Posting on the desired date is contingent upon receipt of payment.
Combination Packages

For a nominal additional fee, advertisers purchasing an employment-related classified or display ad in The Physiatrist can also post the ad on the Physiatrists' Job Board.

Physiatrists' Job Board $400
  • Orders must be submitted in writing, and payment made in advance. Ads received without payment will not be published.
  • There are no multi-insertion rates.
  • Classified ads over 100 words will be charged an additional $2 for each extra word. Count as one word all single words, two initials of a name, single or group of numbers, hyphenated words, URL address, and abbreviations.
Display Advertising

  • There are no multi-insertion rates.
  • All costs incurred by AAPM&R with respect to additional art, typesetting, edits, layout, color separation or film work on material supplied will be the responsibility of the advertiser.
  • Two-color ads are available. Contact awatson@aapmr.org for rates.
Combination Packages

Terms and Conditions

The appearance of advertising or marketing of any kind in the AAPM&R publication The Physiatrist and/or on the AAPM&R Web site is not an endorsement or guarantee of the product or service being advertised or of the claims made for the product or service by the advertiser.

AAPM&R shall be the sole judge of the suitability of materials for advertising in The Physiatrist/Web site, and does not accept advertising for the following purposes:

  • Announcements of educational programs, equipment, or other products and services not related in some way to the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Announcements of products/services/positions mentioning prices or explicit compensation figures.
  • Membership recruitment or related promotions for external organizations.
  • Only AAPM&R members may advertise for "Professionals Seeking Positions."

Advertising rates are non-commissionable. No agency commission is paid.

All ads will be reviewed for approval prior to publication. AAPM&R reserves the right decline, withdraw, or edit advertisements not in keeping with AAPM&R's standards or purpose. Every care is taken to avoid mistakes but responsibility cannot be accepted by AAPM&R for clerical or printer errors. Ads may not discriminate on the basis of gender or ethnic background. All advertising is paid, and is neither endorsed nor warranted by AAPM&R. Ads may not use the AAPM&R name or logo without prior written consent.

Advertisers agree to indemnify and protect the Academy from any claim or action based on the content of advertisements published. FDA status of medical devices mentioned must be included.

Unless return is requested, original art and copy will be destroyed six months after publication.

AAPM&R will not be bound by conditions printed or appearing on order blanks or copy instructions that conflict with provisions of this rate card.

In addition:

  • AAPM&R shall not act as a broker through an advertisement for any product or service not manufactured or provided directly by the party named in the advertisement.
  • Brokers placing ads on behalf of a client assume total responsibility for on-time payment to AAPM&R, regardless of the client's payment standing with the broker. All advertising rates are non commissionable. Payment is due upon receipt, and is past due 30 days after billing date. A client or broker with three or more unpaid invoices from any combination of AAPM&R advertising options will have their advertising dropped without warning. Reinstatement requires the payment of all but the last outstanding invoice.
  • AAPM&R is not responsible for proration in the case of "downtime" on the AAPM&R Web site.
