Needs Assessment

Schedules are hectic and travel is expensive – the American Academy of PM&R understands that. So, AAPM&R will bring the CME directly to physicians – at home, in their offices, or in transit, the Academy provides CME on their time, in their space.

Additionally, AcadeME will help the Academy make better use of its resources. AcadeME moves away from manual, paper-based tracking processes for CME to one that is managed electronically by physicians, making information available to them 24/7. Also, it provides the Academy with a platform to house content that was once delivered to a smaller, live audience; by capturing live events, the Academy is able to extend the reach of our resources to a large audience.

Program Details

AcadeME is an online resource that offers educational content to PM&R physicians including webinars and podcasts, online cases, interactive self-assessments and enduring materials captured from live events. It is accessible via the AAPM&R Web site and can be seen by the approximately 10,000 monthly visitors to the site. AAPM&R is also developing strategic partnerships with related organizations that will add to its existing content library.

CME credits issued by AAPM&R will be tracked automatically and each physician will have access to detailed records of CME credit history. Additionally, members will be able to manually enter CME obtained from other organizations. This repository of information personalized by each physician will be particularly helpful as members report data to state licensing boards, hospital credentialing systems, and medical boards.

Delivery Method

AcadeME (www.me.aapmr.org) is an online education platform that will allow PM&R professionals to access educational services as well as obtain and manage CME credits via the Internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit ME now.

Podcasts

Podcasts are great for on-the-go learning or listening directly from your computer. Topics vary and generally cover panel discussion formats. Podcasts are typically captured from live Academy events, offering learners a unique opportunity to listen to something they may have missed, or previously enjoyed at the live event. They vary in length from 35-90 minutes, depending on the topic. Podcasts are not designated for CME.

Online Courses

Online courses combine audio, video, slides, and interactive learning activities. They are typically captured from live Academy events, offering learners a unique opportunity to listen to something they may have missed or previously enjoyed at the live event. Online courses vary in length depending on the topic.

Most online courses are designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)^TM.

Online Cases

Cases are submitted by members and are peer reviewed for quality. The Academy awards one AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM per case free of charge to Academy members. The Academy issues more than 1000 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM annually to physicians for online cases. Interest in cases continues to grow.

Most products posted on AcadeME will be available for one to three years and most will offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)^TM.

Attendees/Users

AcadeME is open to physicians and the public, though medical professionals will extract the most value from it. AcadeME will be directly marketed to all AAPM&R members and used by more than 5,000 physicians.

Grant Request

The Academy is requesting the following unrestricted educational grants:

• Development and Ongoing Maintenance of AcadeME : $50,000 annually

• Support of Enduring Products: varies from $1,000 to $25,000
