AAPM&R Cost-Effectiveness Bibliography
More about the Cost-Effectiveness Bibliography
The CEB is not the end, but the beginning of a process
to improve the documentation of cost effectiveness in the specialty of
physical medicine and rehabilitation. This database has the potential to be
updated periodically as new studies are performed. Search and eligibility
criteria were sufficiently rigorous to provide a view of the literature from
the perspective of an objective, impartial, outside consultant.
The CEB project is not perfect, and Academy members
should note that in addition to the limitations listed above the CEB:
-
Does not justify (or condemn) the rehabilitation
process
-
Does not account for quality of life issues
-
Is limited to cost analysis only
Viewing the Complete
Bibliography
Members have the option to view the complete
Cost-Effectiveness Bibliography in two different documents: All
Studies or Eligible Studies Only. The All
Studies document contains an alphabetical (by author) listing of all studies
that were evaluated as part of the CEB project.
Articles are identified with a reference code to
indicate whether the study was [E] = Eligible; [C] = Cost Analysis; [M] =
Methodological Study; [I] = Irrelevant Study; or [N] = Not in File. The
Eligible Studies Only document contains an alphabetical (by author) listing of
only those studies that met the specific eligibility requirements as applied
by the project team.
Additional information on these requirements and study
methodology can be found in the section titled About the Cost-Effectiveness
Bibliography.
Searching the
Cost-Effectiveness Bibliography
The results of the CEB project have been organized into
a searchable online database for use by
AAPM&R members. Members may search for specific articles by title or
topic, and may also search by keyword, PM&R category, study methodology,
and economic study type.
The search tool also allows members to develop lists of
articles on cost-effectiveness by clinical area (e.g., stroke). Where
available, Web-based hyperlinks are provided from article titles to more
detailed abstracts of eligible articles in the study.
More detailed search instructions are available on the
search page.
