AAPM&R Member Councils
Five New Clinical Homes for AAPM&R Members
Member Councils launched January 1, 2009. The first year was an
enrollment year for the new Councils and has proven successful with over 30% of Academy members currently enrolled at the close of 2009. The Councils has been diligently working on their deliverables.
All members are encouraged to sign up for all Councils that interest them. Academy members can read important Council announcements in this section of the Academy Web site, in the Council Information Letters (found on individual Council pages) and in the “Councils' Corner” feature of The Physiatrist.
Each Council has its own home page (see the navigation at left). On each page, you can learn about the activities and focus of each Council. The pages also provide a link to information about Council leadership, including the chairs and chairs-elect as well as a page that connects members to the Council listserves (member login is required for these pages).

Call for Council Advisory and Work Group Nominations
AAPM&R is seeking nominations for volunteers.
Volunteer to be a Leader
Each Member Council has three Vice-Chairs who oversee Advisory Groups on
education, communication, and membership development. Vice-Chairs will appoint
“Advisory Groups” to serve as resources to the Councils in the following key
areas:
-
The Education Advisory Group in each Council will provide input to the
Vice-Chair and the AAPM&R Medical Education Committee on educational needs.
Participants will also develop educational content and products for the
Annual Assembly, journal, newsletter, study guides, practicing curricula,
practice guidelines, enduring materials, and maintenance of certification.
-
The Communication Advisory Group in each Council will produce a
quarterly information letter with the Vice-Chair. Participants will also
encourage submissions to The Physiatrist and maintain a list of research
publications/grant awards.
-
The Membership Development Advisory Group in each Council will work with
the Vice-Chair to promote member recruitment, retention and foster a sense
of community. Participants will also maintain lists of volunteers with
specific expertise who can serve as resources to the Council.
Volunteer to be a Worker
There is a job for everyone! If you would prefer to work in a group with
a task-specific focus, please indicate that preference on the nomination
form. Work Group participation provides an excellent way to be involved in a
Council without the time commitment of a volunteer leadership position.
