How can I join a Community Network?
As with the Councils, Academy members may join any or all
Community Networks, and there is no fee for enrollment. Members can
join or
change their enrollment in a virtual community at any time online. Upon
joining, members will automatically be placed on the
listserve associated with that Council or Community Network.
Background on the Community Networks
A concern of the AAPM&R Board of Governors has been how to
facilitate the Academy’s responsibility for the aspect of membership that is
social, or at least non-clinical. To encourage and maintain networking among
physiatrists with social or non-clinical interests, the Academy created
“Community Networks.” The Academy provides
electronic connections for these groups to interact through the current
listserves. Community Networks are not required to convene business
meetings; however, they may have space to meet during the Annual Assembly if
desired.
