The Results Are In: AAPM&R Member Communications Survey
Academy members report they are happy with the amount of
communication they receive from the Academy, and, reflecting an increased
comfort with technology, many note that they would like to receive Academy news
in their e-mail inboxes.
These opinions and more were shared by more than 900
members via the online Member Communications Survey open to all members from
November 2007 through mid-January 2008.
Results: The Physiatrist
-
80% of members read most issues of The Physiatrist,
and 85% find the article length to be “just right.”
-
About 60% of members rated their satisfaction with
The Physiatrist newsletter as “very high” or “high.”
-
53% said they were satisfied with the physical size of
the newsletter, and another 21% said they didn’t care one way or the other.
-
Members were split on the question of whether they
would like to see more feature articles about Academy colleagues in The
Physiatrist, with 53% saying “yes” and 47% saying “no.”
Results: Amount of Communication
Results: Mode of Communication
-
Three-quarters of the respondents stated they want to
receive more content about practice management and more information related
to managed care and private sector (insurance carrier) topics. They rated an
e-newsletter as their preferred method to receive this information.
-
Only 3% of members stated they would not be interested
in an e-mail newsletter.
As a result of this strong preference of members to
receive news via e-mail, the Academy is pleased to announce that it will launch
an e-message twice a month, that will include short updates of timely news and links
that will connect to more detailed information on a topic. Members should begin
to see this communication in the next three to four months. To learn how to
receive this new, timely news source, click here.
