AAPM&R and the PM&R Care of America’s Wounded Warriors
Sign Up to Promote Rehab of Soldiers in Your Community
In September 2007, AAPM&R unveiled a major national
initiative with the Veterans Administration (VA) to make providers aware of
rehabilitation resources that are available in the civilian sector. Following
discussions with VA officials, the Academy is leading a partnership with VA and
Community Based Health Care Organizations (CBHCO) to identify experts
(physiatrists) in various communities across the country to help care for
injured service members as they re-integrate into their communities. The
Academy’s State PM&R Society Presidents will serve as points of contact with VA
medical directors and staff.
Academy members who would like to get involved with this
initiative should contact their State
Society President and indicate what they can offer. This will help to
centralize the process and provide state societies with the information that
will be needed by the VA and the DoD.
For more information, Academy members can also contact
Suzanne Butler at (847) 737-6000 or e-mail
sbutler@aapmr.org for assistance.
