Volunteer Opportunities for Medical Students
Veterans Affairs
Medical students routinely volunteer at VA Medical Centers (VAMCs)
across a variety of disciplines. A student who is interested in volunteer
opportunities should coordinate at the local level between his or her medical
school and the local VA facility. A medical student interested in volunteering
can coordinate through the VAMC's Volunteer Services Office. If a student wants
to receive credit for working at a VAMC, then he or she must coordinate through
the VAMC's Office of Academic Affiliations. PM&R medical students may also
contact the PM&R director at the local VA facility to inquire about such
opportunities, and for further guidance about volunteering locally.
