As part of the Coalition to Preserve Rehabilitation (CPR), AAPM&R signed on to a March letter in support of the new additions to the Uniform Glossary of Coverage and Medical Terms. On February 26, CMS at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced that it added a new definition of the term “orthotics and prosthetics (O&P),” separate and distinct from the definition of durable medical equipment. Inclusion in the Uniform Glossary does not guarantee coverage O&P services, but it does help consumers understand what constitutes coverage and prompts them to compare and contrast the levels of such coverage across competing health plans. It also formally signals separate benefit treatments from durable medical equipment in private health plans.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
