AAPM&R recently participated in a series of congressional meetings in support of S. 800— Enhancing the Stature and Visibility of Medical Rehabilitation Research at the NIH Act. This bill seeks to strengthen rehabilitation research coordination at the National Institutes of Health. Many of the S. 800 advocacy efforts are being conducted through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Coalition (DRRC), which AAPM&R is a steering committee member. The bill has already received unanimous bipartisan support and passage in the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee and is gaining strong bipartisan support in the House of Representatives. Look for updates on the bill's progress here and in your Academy's publications.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
