New Practice Preparedness Resources on mē

The Academy has released 3 new Practice Preparedness resources (also available in a bundle) on mē. 

  • Running a Cash PracticeLearners will understand how they can transition to, run, and maintain a cash practice and can earn up to 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ after they get a passing score of 100% on the post-test and complete an evaluation.
  • VBP, MIPS, APMs, and ACOs: Where Do Physiatrists Fit?:  Learners will understand the alphabet soup of different approaches to payment authorized by the SGR repeal law and what they mean to physiatry practices. They’ll see the step-by-step approach needed to redesign care delivery and payment systems in ways that can benefit patients, payers, and physicians, including specific examples for different types of physiatry patients and different practice settings. Learners can earn up to 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ after they get a passing score of 100% on the post-test and complete an evaluation.
  • The New HealthcareLearners will hear about challenges physiatrists must be able to overcome to succeed in the emerging value-based world and can earn up to 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ after they get a passing score of 100% on the post-test and complete an evaluation.
  • Focusing on the Health of Your Practice BundleThis bundle includes all 3 activities above and learners can earn up to 2.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ after they get a passing score of 100% on the post-test and complete an evaluation.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
