The National Quality Forum (NQF) hosted its 20th Anniversary Annual Conference from March 24-26. The NQF measures and standards serve as a critically-important foundation for initiatives to enhance health care value, make patient care safer, and achieve better outcomes. Today, about 300 NQF-endorsed measures are used in more than 20 federal public reporting and pay-for-performance programs as well as in private-sector and state programs. Experts in attendance at the 2019 conference include leadership from health plans, government agencies, policy makers, health care providers, and academia.

As the chair of the Academy’s Evidence, Quality, and Performance Committee (EQPC), Dr. Annaswamy represented the Academy. The learnings from the NQF Annual Meeting will help inform the Academy’s quality agenda and priorities, which the EQPC helps oversee.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
