Join us on Monday, April 15 at 5:30 PM CDT for a webinar on the Academy’s efforts to reduce inpatient denials and associated physician burden. The Health Policy & Legislation (HP&L) committee has been working with the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of the Inspector General over the last six months to address Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility medical necessity and technical or documentation denials of Medicare claims.

HP&L has also been working to address issues in Medicare Advantage and prior authorization denials. The presentation will also include an overview of Federal government initiatives to reduce physician burden, presented by one of our DC lobbyists.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
