AAPM&R Health Policy Advocacy “Tools”
AAPM&R values the contributions of its resident members in
promoting the profession’s health policy agenda. To help facilitate this
process, helpful information is posted on the Academy Web site for all members
to use for their advocacy efforts. Whether you are drafting testimony for state
legislation or working with your state PM&R society on a comment letter to a
Fiscal Intermediary on a local coverage determination (LCD), you will find a
range of template documents to assist you with developing important
correspondence. There is also basic information on how to schedule a meeting
with your legislator and how to bolster your state society’s lobbying efforts.
Advocacy around issues such as Medicare and Medicaid reform, scope of practice
initiatives, medical rehabilitation research and medical malpractice reform
often requires grassroots activities at the both the federal and state levels
and is vital to the PM&R profession and benefits from the efforts of all AAPM&R
members.
