RPC Officers
RPC officers assume their positions at
the end of the Annual Assembly. The term of office is
through the end of the following Annual Assembly.
RPC Appointed Positions
-
Two representatives to the AAPM&R Membership
Committee, which is charged with the responsibility for recruitment,
retention and membership constituency management, and other related charges
as assigned by the Board of Governors of the AAPM&R (BOG). Develops and
implements new and innovative ways to recruit and retain members focusing on
young physiatrists. Monitors membership statistics and trends. Identifies
membership needs of young members and develops mechanisms to assist them to
advance into leadership roles.

Two representatives to the AAPM&R Medical Education
Committee, which plans and coordinates the Academy’s initiatives to fulfill
the Academy educational goals and serve the needs of the members, and other
related charges as assigned by the BOG. Identifies educational needs for all
Academy members and designs, evaluates, budgets, revises and implements
educational meetings, publications and products to meet those needs.
Identifies emerging trends and develops
recommendations with proposed business plans for new products and future
direction of existing products. Monitors ACCME CME guidelines and policies
and guarantees AAPM&R adherence to policies and practices.
Oversees all MEC subcommittees to ensure objectives and charges are being
addressed. Through its subcommittees, produce, approve, retain, and
distribute educational material to members.

One representative to the AAPM&R Public and
Professional Awareness Committee which plans and coordinates the initiatives
to increase understanding and utilization of physiatry, and other related
charges as assigned by the BOG. Develops a proactive marketing promotion for
the field of PM&R including
Facilitates and coordinates marketing efforts to
promote the practice of physiatry.
Develops mechanisms for communication to members and
the public.

One representative to the AAPM&R Quality Practice and
Policy Committee, which plans and coordinates the Academy’s health policy,
legislative, medical practice, research, clinical quality and related
initiatives, and other related charges as assigned by the BOG. Develops and
manages integrated strategic plan and resource allocation to advance the
practice, policy and research priorities of the Academy.

One representative to the American Medical Association
– Resident and Fellows Section – represents resident members of the AAPM&R
and serves as liaison between the AAPM&R and the AMA.

One chair of residency program communications –
maintains and utilizes various methods to communicate with as many resident
members of the AAPM&R as possible.

One representative to the Residency Review Committee –
appointed by the RRC every two years. RPC makes candidate recommendation(s)
to the RRC.

One resident “member-at-large” each for the bylaws
committee and nominating committee. These two residents are NOT funded to
attend the RPC interim meeting. They will participate in conference calls
and will work with other RPC board members on these committees.
*Responsibilities: All liaison/representative positions
have required conference calls and at least one meeting per year. Residents
applying for these positions should be prepared to make arrangements to make
sure they are able to attend these meetings. If for any reason the
representative is unable to make a meeting, an alternate resident may be
assigned, and it is the appointed resident’s responsibility to alert the RPC
president and Academy staff of their impending absence. In addition to parent
committee meetings and conference calls, the RPC board (RPC executive committee
and all appointed positions except for the two members-at-large) will have
conference calls every one to two months and will have an interim meeting each
year. (usually about six months prior to next year’s annual assembly)
