Member Community Leader Nominations 

Cancer Rehabilitation, Central Nervous System, Pediatric Rehabilitation 

AAPM&R is currently seeking members who are interested in serving as Member Community Chair and additional positions for the following communities. 

  • Cancer Rehabilitation
  • Central Nervous System
  • Pediatric Rehabilitation 

A Member Community chair fulfills critical community functions including the following:

  • Facilitating and encouraging engagement between members of the community;
  • Facilitating Member Community activities online via PhyzForum;
  • Organizing, calling, and chairing Member Community gatherings in person at the Annual Assembly;
  • Serving as a resource for and connection to the Academy on issues related to the Member Community’s area of focus – for example, helping identify subject matter experts.

Each Member Community chair term is 2 years. Members elected in 2019 will have his/her term expire at the 2021 Annual Assembly. Member Community chairs are volunteer positions. 

The role of chair for each Member Community will be determined by an election process. Find more information about the election process, resources, and time commitments here.  

Additional Member Community Leader Roles:

Chair-Elect - In the absence of the Chair or in the event of the Chair’s inability to act, the Chair-Elect shall perform the duties of the Chair.  The Chair-Elect shall generally perform all other duties from time to time assigned to it by the Chair.

Education Vice-Chair - The Education Vice-Chair shall perform the duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair.  The Education Vice-Chair will also be asked to collaborate with members regarding educational needs. 

Communications Vice-Chair. The Communications Vice-Chair shall perform the duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair.  The Communications Vice-Chair will also be asked to gather educational, social and other applicable content for its membership and utilize PhyzForum to promote positive information regarding physiatrists;  

Membership Vice-Chair. The Membership Vice-Chair shall perform the duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair.  The Membership Vice-Chair shall encourage Academy members to connect via Member Communities as well as create and encourage member to member engagement.

These leadership structures will remain in place to help guide these Member Communities during their inaugural years. The following positions will be seeking member volunteers.
