Exploring PM&R Open House – Hosted by AAPM&R, Live from New Orleans

Annual Assembly

Exclusively for local and nearby New Orleans pre-med and medical students who are underrepresented in medicine

Are you a pre-med or medical student looking to learn more about the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R)? The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) is committed to diversity in the physician workforce. This open house is exclusively for local New Orleans pre-med and medical students who are underrepresented in medicine.

PM&R aims to enhance functional ability of patients with physical impairments or disabilities affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons. PM&R physicians are a diverse group who practice in clinical areas from sports medicine, pain management, stroke, brain injury, cancer rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation and so much more. Unlike other medical specialties that focus on a medical “cure,” the goals of the PM&R physician are to maximize patients’ activities of daily living.

If you are a pre-med or medical student who is underrepresented in medicine and this sounds like something you might be interested in, AAPM&R, the national medical specialty organization representing more than 9,000 PM&R physicians, is holding a complimentary open house on November 15, 2023 in New Orleans, LA from 6-8:30 pm (CT) and would love to see you there! Those who attend will learn more about PM&R from experts in the field. We hope you can join us to network and ask questions to see if PM&R is the right specialty for you.
