Receptions


Welcome Reception

5 pm–7 pm

Mingle with your peers for drinks and hors d’oeuvres, while building your professional and social networks. The Welcome Reception provides a valuable opportunity to meet your fellow attendees and exhibitors, as well as catch up with old friends in a relaxed social setting. Guests and children must be registered for admittance to this event.

 

In-Training Reception

Friday, November 15         
5 pm-6 pm

Before you head to Cowboys Dancehall for the President’s Reception, spend an hour networking with your peers while enjoying appetizers and drinks. Resident and Fellow-in-Training registration fees include admittance to this reception.

 

President’s Reception—Boot Scootin' BBQ!

Pack your dancing boots, because the President’s Reception is headed to Texas’ premier honky-tonk venue, Cowboys Dancehall!

Assembly attendees will have exclusive access to this famous concert hall, where you will enjoy food, entertainment, and fun—Texas style. Learn more.

 

 

Member Networking

During this half-day program, you’re invited to attend sessions that were created by YOUR Member Communities. Explore education specific to your needs and network with your peers who share similar interests. Take a look at all the sessions and networking opportunities here.

Learning Collaboratives

Thursday, November 14-Saturday, November 16

These 3-hour sessions dive deep into dialogue with your peers. Are you considering changes to your practice? What barriers are you facing? What have you tried that has been successful or unsuccessful? What can you learn from your peers working through the same challenges? 

Four Learning Collaboratives will be offered:

  • Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Learning Collaborative
  • Rehabilitation Care Continuum Learning Collaborative
  • Cancer Rehabilitation Medicine Learning Collaborative
  • Musculoskeletal Medicine Learning Collaborative

First-Time Attendee Meet-Up

With so much to see and do at the Assembly, a little help comes in handy! The First-Time Attendee Meet-Up gives you a unique opportunity to ask questions and meet other first-timers. Volunteer Open House—NEW!

7 am-9 am

The Academy’s volunteer program now has opportunities to fit every schedule! Attend this networking event to find out about the new ways to engage through volunteerism. Hear from current volunteers on why and how they engage. Grab coffee and a bagel, join your PM&R peers, and shape the future of your specialty.

Looking for a place to take a break from it all? The Oasis is the perfect spot to relax, catch up on email, meet other attendees or join your peers in some fun games. 

For Member Communities in need of a private meeting space, an online application can be completed here. If you have additional questions, please contact membercommunities@aapmr.org. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

AAPM&R Business Meeting

Saturday, November 16   
11:30 am–12:30 pm

The AAPM&R Business Meeting is where the Membership Report, the Nominating Committee Report, and Bylaws recommendations are formally presented for voting. Attendees will hear a review of 2019 activities and a preview of 2020 initiatives. Only voting members of the Academy may vote, but all members are encouraged to attend.

AAPM&R Town Hall Meeting

5 pm-6 pm

All members are encouraged to attend the AAPM&R Town Hall. This is a great way to make an in-person connection with your Board of Governors during the Annual Assembly. Members meet face-to-face with leadership who set aside this time in an informal setting to answer your questions and hear your ideas and feedback. This is an excellent opportunity to share your voice with the Board of Governors!

In-Training Town Hall

Connect with your resident peers and share your unique PM&R experiences during this Resident Town Hall, moderated by the Physiatrists in Training (PHiT) Council.


Chief Residents’ Meeting

Saturday, November 16    
5 pm–6:15 pm

Hear chief residents share best practices, learn the “ins and outs” of PM&R residency operations, and participate in an interactive dialogue. This is another great opportunity to build your network of lifelong colleagues.
