Residents Talk PM&R Bold at the Inaugural Virtual Town Hall

On Thursday, July 27 more than 30 PM&R residents from across the country participated in the inaugural Visioning PM&R Bold Virtual Town Hall. Some of the programs represented included Georgetown University, UT Southwestern, Stanford University, and the University of Washington. For an hour, residents talked about current trends they are seeing in training and the practice of PM&R as well as future opportunities in the specialty. Below are themes that came up during the conversation:

This inaugural event was part of Visioning PM&R Bold—AAPM&R's new initiative to help define the future of PM&R. We will be hosting a series of events where physiatrists will come together in exciting, interactive live and online environments.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
