Join the Academy for a review of the policies related to office and outpatient E/M visits as finalized in the 2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule.

Members will be asked to share their opinions on how the finalized policies may impact their practices and the specialty. Topics include:

  • Collapsing of level 2-4 E/M codes for 2021 payment
  • Revised documentation requirements for 2021 including a minimum documentation standard as well as the option to bill based solely on time or medical decision making
  • New add-on codes for primary and complex care

Member feedback obtained at the town hall will inform the Academy's comment letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
