Andrew HaigAAPM&R member Andrew Haig, MD, an internationally recognized rehabilitation expert, has joined Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital as vice president of accountable care and medical informatics. Dr. Haig is professor emeritus of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Michigan and president of Haig et al. Consulting, a quality-care group that builds medical rehabilitation programs.

At Mary Free Bed, Dr. Haig will be responsible for developing accountable care and value-based care strategies for the hospital’s business and 26 network partners by aligning integrated relationships with external physicians and group practices, hospital and health systems, and insurance networks.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
