New Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects Grant for Traumatic Brain Injury

A new grant opportunity from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) at ACL has been announced under the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects Program (DRRP) for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System Centers Program.

The TBI Model System Centers must provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary services to individuals with traumatic brain injury and conduct research that contributes to evidence-based rehabilitation interventions and clinical and practice guidelines. It must generate new knowledge that can be used to improve outcomes of individuals with TBI in one or more of these domains: health and function, community living and participation, and employment. Applicants must propose research that contributes to the development of evidence-based traumatic brain injury rehabilitation practices through the advancement of science at any stage of research.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
