• Michael April, MD, FAAPMR, physiatrist at the Pain & Injury Center of Greater Washington, served as the team physician for Team USA at the World Maccabiah Games last summer. The World Maccabiah Games are the third largest in the world behind the Summer Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. In addition to covering various sports including soccer, track and field, and Tae Kwon Do, Dr. April was also the only acupuncturist on the medical team. The 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics are right around the corner! • Maurice G. Sholas, MD, PhD, FAAPMR, the senior medical director of rehab services at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, discusses why empathy, not technical knowledge, is the most critical skill he needs to deliver the highest-quality care to his patients in an article published in American Healthcare Leader.
