AAPM&R has 2 new volunteer opportunities available for our members who want to make their voices heard as a representative to the National Quality Forum (NQF).

Academy Seeks Representative to National Quality Forum (NQF) All-Cause Admissions and Readmissions Committee. This committee will evaluate newly-submitted measures and measures undergoing maintenance review and to make recommendations for which measures should be endorsed as consensus standards. This Committee works to identify and endorse new performance measures for accountability and quality improvement that address all-cause and condition-specific admissions and readmissions.
 
Academy Seeks Representative to National Quality Forum (NQF) Geriatric and Palliative Care Committee. This committee will oversee NQF’s portfolio of geriatric, palliative, and end-of-life care measures. Measures in this portfolio address physical aspects of care, including the management of pain, dyspnea, and constipation. The portfolio also includes measures addressing several of the other domains of care including spiritual, psychological, cultural, and legal aspects of care and care of the patient at the end-of-life.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
