The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 2:30 pm-4 pm (ET) to provide a basic overview of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) for the 2020 performance period. Participants, support staff, health care organizations, and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to learn the basics of the program and ask questions.

During the webinar, CMS subject matter experts will provide information on various topic areas that will help clinicians, care teams, and practice support staff participate in MIPS, including:

  • Background on the Quality Payment Program
  • Eligibility
  • Reporting options
  • Basic requirements for the MIPS performance categories
  • Help and support

CMS will answer questions from attendees at the end of the webinar as time permits.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills. 

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
