Registry Participant Spotlight: Spine and Sports Physiatrists

Members & Publications

July 6, 2017

AAPM&R's Registry is a qualified clinical data registry that follows patients longitudinally, with an emphasis on quality improvement. It can be used to meet your Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) Part IV Maintenance of Certification® (MOC®) requirements. Also, the collected data will help advance the understanding of the ever-growing pain patient population while demonstrating the quality and value of treatments.

Whether your practice consists of physiatrists, neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, or anything in between—if you work with pain patients, you can participate in the Registry. Learn about one of our participating practices and why they chose our Registry below:

Spine and Sports Physiatrists

We have primarily a spine-focused practice with a heavy emphasis on musculoskeletal medicine. We do in-office EMG and ultrasound as well as fluoroscopically-guided spine procedures. We cover 2 high schools for sports and have regular resident rotations from several nearby PM&R programs.

Reason for Participation: We wanted to participate in the acquisition of data to help determine our outcome efficacy, and help in the effort to determine the time and place for operative and medical spine care in light of the future focus on population-based medicine.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
