AAPM&R Launches RUC Survey

Members & Publications

November 1, 2021

This month, AAPM&R will be conducting a random sample survey of Academy membership for the purposes of developing recommendations to the American Medical Association Relative Value Scale Update Committee (AMA RUC). This survey is being conducted in collaboration with the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American College of Radiology, the American College of Rheumatology and the American Podiatric Medical Association.  If you are a member of one of these partnering organizations, you may receive a survey link directly from them.

The survey is being conducted on three ultrasound codes including a new code for neuromuscular ultrasound, scheduled to take effect in January 2023.

These surveys will be sent to a random sample of Academy members.  Those who receive one of the surveys are encouraged to complete it. If you are inappropriately contacted regarding these surveys, please notify AAPM&R immediately.

If you have questions, please contact Carolyn Millett, Senior Manager of Reimbursement and Regulatory Affairs via email at cmillett@aapmr.org immediately.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
