PM&R Needs Compensation Data: Be a Part of the Solution

Calling all researchers! To help incorporate new, original research into the 2017 Annual Assembly, we’ve opened a Call for Late-Breaking Research, now available. All submissions must be brand-new research abstracts only, no case studies. Submissions will be accepted until June 30. Learn more and submit yours.

The Physiatrist’s Role in Cancer Recovery: Helping Patients With Cancer-Distinct Impairments

AAPM&R Begins Development of Quality Measures

On June 1, 2017, AAPM&R’s development of quality measures kicked-off as members of the Technical Expert Panel (TEP) met at the headquarters of the PCPI® Foundation, formerly the American Medical Association-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, in Chicago. The multi-specialty TEP reviewed and discussed specifications for physiatric-centric quality measures as part of an ongoing process to develop up to 5 measures. White House Releases FY 2018 Budget Proposal

President Trump released his proposed budget for fiscal year (FY) 2018 last week. The proposal includes $1.5 trillion in nondefense discretionary spending cuts, and would balance the budget within a decade. While the White House budget would reshape federal spending on anti-poverty and safety net programs, it leaves the Medicare program untouched. The budget assumes that repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will be accomplished, resulting in estimated savings of $250 billion over the next ten years. The budget features deep cuts to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) – totaling a reduction of $12.4 billion in discretionary funding.
