As previously shared, the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule for calendar year 2027 was released on July 14. Your Academy staff and advocacy committees are continuing to review the details of this over 1,500-page rule. We have identified several proposals in the rule which, if implemented, could have a detrimental impact on physiatry practice. Your Academy is preparing a strong comprehensive response to several proposals including:
- A payment reduction when evaluation and management visits and procedures are provided to the same patient on the same day (modifier 25),
- Changes to practice expense methodology and reimbursement,
- Changes to the HCPCS code G2211,
- Changes to coverage of Remote Therapeutic Monitoring services, and more.
Aligned with our ongoing advocacy efforts, the Academy will be advocating on these and other issues in the rule. We will also be working to develop resources for members to advocate individually.
