On July 14, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the annual Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rule. The rule describes proposed payment, policy, and quality program changes which, if finalized, will take effect January 1, 2027. AAPM&R is currently reviewing the rule in detail and will provide specifics in the coming weeks, including proposed changes to the conversion factor, relative value unit (RVU) values, payment for PM&R services and other proposals which impact physiatry.
