Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Solicits Public Comments for Draft Guideline and Systematic Review on Pediatric Mild TBI

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control’s (NCIPC) Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) charged the Pediatric Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Guideline Work Group with drafting a report that includes evidence-based recommendations for health care providers on diagnosing and managing pediatric mild TBI. The Work Group’s final report was presented to and accepted by the CDC NCIPC/BSC on September 7, 2016.

Using the Work Group report as a foundation, CDC drafted 2 documents that are now available on Regulations.gov for review and comment.

  1. CDC Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Among Children (age 18 and under)
  2. Diagnosis and Management of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Among Children: A Systematic Review (inclusive of data tables)

The 60-day public comment period on these 2 documents closes on November 28, 2017. If you would like to offer comments, please submit feedback at www.Regulations.gov. Your Academy’s Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) Committee will also be reviewing the guideline and welcome any additional insight, which can be provided to healthpolicy@aapmr.org.
