AAPM&R Joins the Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health

AAPM&R announces that it has joined the Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health to highlight the health impact of climate change on individuals with disabilities. The mission of the Consortium is to inform the public and policy makers about the harmful health effects of climate change on Americans, and about the immediate and long-term health benefits associated with decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and other preventive and protective measures.

By joining the Consortium, AAPM&R aims to represent and advocate for persons with disabilities who are one of the most disadvantaged populations impacted by climate change. By having a role in the Consortium, AAPM&R gives the patients physiatrists serve a voice in the climate-related health discussions happening now and the planning that will impact the future.

Current members of the Consortium include: the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American College of Occupational Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), American College of Physicians (ACP), American Medical Association (AMA), and the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP).
