AAPM&R’s Biologics Commitment and Complimentary Access to Educational Resources

Did you know that AAPM&R is a member of the Biologic Association? The Biologic Association's mission is to foster and convene a collaboration for shared and coordinated efforts to speak with a unified voice in the musculoskeletal biologics environment, advocating for the responsible use of biologics in clinical practice, spearheading standards development and assessing and reporting on the safety and efficacy of biologic interventions. Gerard Malanga, MD, FAAPMR, serves as our Academy liaison to the Biologics Association. And, as a benefit of Academy membership, you receive complimentary access to educational resources on the Biologic Association’s website. In addition to these educational resources, we have convened an Academy Biologics Taskforce and they will be meeting for the first time on March 10, 2021. Chaired by Joanne Borg-Stein, MD, FAAPMR, this independent workgroup will support Academy members who are interested or involved in biologics. Our workgroup’s goals are as follows:

  • Engage and invest in members who have interest and expertise in biologics.
  • Serve as a think tank and planning committee for biologics-related education and advocacy efforts for the Academy.
  • Define parameters for the Academy’s involvement in biologics.
  • Identify member needs and build education and informational resources to address those needs.
