We’re Celebrating YOU During National Volunteer Week—April 23–29, 2017

Volunteer LogoApril is one of our favorite times of the year because we get to recognize our 500+ volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to the Academy each year. Yep, you read that right. More than 500 of your peers volunteer with us each year to help move physiatry forward. Without them, we couldn’t advocate for the specialty, create educational resources that enhance your learning, develop a fantastic Annual Assembly program that brings together thousands of your peers, and so much more.

We’ve accomplished many important initiatives because of our volunteers. This is the time to acknowledge all of the hard and valuable work they put into making the Academy the community for all physiatrists. No other PM&R organization has the amount of advocacy representation in D.C., variety of resources, informational publications, health care environment guidance, and highly-valued events like the Academy does. And we thank our volunteers for leading these efforts.

Interested in giving back to your Academy and the PM&R specialty? By volunteering, you receive valuable networking opportunities with peers, gain unique insight into the Academy community, and stay current with specialty-related advancements. We encourage you to explore current volunteer opportunities on the AAPM&R website at www.aapmr.org/volunteers.

P.S. Don't forget to visit our Liaisons page for an up-to-date list of your Academy's representatives. Thank you to these members for serving your Academy!

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
