Act Now – Urge Congressional Leaders to Avert Physician Fee Schedule Cuts

Members & Publications

December 14, 2022

Effective January 1, 2023, Medicare physician payment will be cut by 4.5% without Congressional action.  AAPM&R has fiercely advocated on this issue through meetings with Congress as well as coalition efforts over the past several months.   With only a couple of weeks left before the new year, now is the time for Congress to hear directly from you about the impact these cuts will have on patient care in 2023.

To-date, Academy members have sent over 400 letters to Representatives and Senators urging action on this issue before the end of the year.  Congress needs to hear how detrimental these cuts would be for physiatry and for rehabilitation patients.  If you haven’t already, take less than five minutes to contact your Senators and Representatives via our modifiable email on the Academy’s Member Action Center

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
