Long COVID Initiative Updates: August 18, 2021

Aug 18, 2021, 14:23 by User Not Found

AAPM&R will provide consistent updates on our advocacy outreach efforts, the Multi-Disciplinary PASC Collaborative and other relevant information on our Long COVID initiative.

Our Push for Change Continues

We have been sharing our Multi-Disciplinary Collaborative Consensus Guidance Statement on the Assessment and Treatment of Fatigue in Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) Patients with federal offices as well as our upcoming webinar highlighted below. Additionally, we advocated to the Senate Labor, Health and Human Services Subcommittee to encourage them to include our recommendations in the House-passed FY 2022 Appropriations Bill - and it was accepted! Our recommendation encouraged HHS to foster interagency and stakeholder collaboration in addressing the crisis of post-acute COVID-19 syndrome by forming the Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome Advisory Committee. It now goes to the Senate side.

Also, view our letter to the Senate HELP Committee, which discusses the Centers of Excellence bill. This bipartisan bill awards grants, contracts or other support to at least 10 academic medical centers for the establishment or continued support of COVID Centers of Excellence. We worked with Sen. Gillibrand's office to incorporate more language specific to Long COVID into this bill. Stay tuned for updates!
