Have you thought about becoming more active, vocal and engaged as the healthcare landscape changes? Have you stopped yourself because you felt you lacked the necessary leadership skills or training? The Academy’s Future Leaders Program could be a perfect fit for you!

Established in 2012, our prestigious Future Leaders Program takes select participants through a two-year curriculum that introduces them to key components of association leadership, strategic planning, media skills, specialty advocacy and more! The curriculum brings participants to meetings with the Academy’s Board of Governors, with policy makers in Washington, D.C., and with established leadership development professionals.

Nominations are now open for the 2024-26 class. Submit your application for the Academy’s Future Leaders Program by the March 13 deadline. Don’t miss your chance to be part of our valuable program. We’re identifying and training future leaders, immersing participants in the culture of volunteerism and connecting participants with strong Academy leaders in mission-critical roles. Learn about our current participants and recent graduates here. Then, send us your application.

There are many reasons to submit, including:

  • Advancing your career
  • Growing your leadership skills
  • Giving back to physiatry
  • Learning about strategic planning, media skills, advocacy and more.

Submit your application by March 13 and help shape the future work of the Academy! Our new class will be announced this spring.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
