AAPM&R is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Technology Team and support the Academy’s data platforms, reporting environment, and Association Management System.  This role plays a key part in strengthening data integrity, building dashboards and visualizations, and partnering with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into actionable insights. The Data Analyst will help drive informed decision-making across the organization while supporting ongoing system enhancements, including the upcoming migration to iMIS EMS.

Position Summary

The Data Analyst supports, monitors, and enhances the Academy’s Association Management System (AMS) reporting and data platforms and processes, and provides systems support for staff across the organization. This role partners with departments to understand and translate reporting needs into solutions that support informed decisions. Core responsibilities include development of data analysis reports, visualizations and dashboards, configuration and support of the association management system, coordination and execution of data requests, troubleshooting, project execution and business analysis. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete data requests including reports, dashboards, PowerBI Visualizations, SQL and business object creation and other data projects. 
  • Partner with staff across departments to promote and strengthen data integrity practices, providing guidance and support to improve overall data quality.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in the Academy’s underlying data structures.
  • Manage and prioritize the organization-wide pipeline of data requests.  Collaborate with department leaders and staff across Membership, Marketing, Education, and other Academy teams to gather requirements, clarify reporting requests, and translate needs into effective solutions. 
  • Work closely with Manager, Technology Operations to track and manage incoming data requests within the internal helpdesk system.
  • Maintain thorough, up-to-date documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), data elements and report definitions.
  • Collaborate with Academy staff to ensure proficiency in data analysis techniques and approaches, with the goal of enhancing overall data competencies.
  • Provide support and updates to the Association Management System (currently iMIS 2017, migrating to iMIS EMS in Q2 2026).
  • Participate in technology projects as needed.  Attend project and PMO meetings representing the IT team, to understand the Academy global environment and help drive Academy initiatives to completion.  Use this knowledge to proactively plan for ongoing data needs of the organization. 
  • Other project tasks may include: 
    • Frame business requirements
    • Calculate cost-benefits analysis
    • Research and recommend new solutions
    • Design system components and workflows
    • System testing and quality control
    • Project documentation
    • Support system integration and implementation projects
  • Provide occasional technical support to staff as part of the broader technology team.
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies that could be of benefit to the Academy and work with the Academy business units to gain an understanding of those technologies and how they might apply to the Academy.  Participate in professional development activities as needed to support this knowledge base.
  • Promote quality by adhering to organization standards and IT, RISC (Risk and Information Security Committee) and Data Governance, and Employee policies. Maintain data standards, manage data quality processes, and participate in data governance initiatives.
  • Maintain high professional standards of integrity, ethics, and commitment to the goals of AAPM&R.
  • Other duties as assigned.

AAPM&R Offers

Based on experience and skillsets, the compensation range for the Data Analyst position is $65,000 – 75,000 per year and would include the following benefits:

Requirements                                                                                      

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 3–4 years of professional experience developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations in a data analytics or business intelligence environment required.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis including database design, stored procedures and SQL required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Power BI and the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools required.
  • Experience working with multiple departments and/or organizations, building relationships, and with highly collaborative projects required.
  • Association experience preferred.
  • Experience with iMIS or similar association management systems preferred.
  • Experience with AI-assisted analysis and productivity tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell or similar structured programming languages a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under deadline pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within and across departments to achieve both departmental and organizational goals.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to respond to Academy members, staff and others in a professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly manner.
