The American Medical Association’s (AMA) Women Physicians Section (WPS) hosts Women in Medicine Month each September to acknowledge pioneering women, celebrate their accomplishments, and help cultivate future women physicians. AAPM&R is joining the celebration! Within physiatry, there are thousands of female physiatrists leading in their practices and institutions, and impacting the lives of their patients. Throughout the month of September, we’ll be highlighting the brilliant work of our members, and we hope you join us.

The 2017 theme for #WIMmonth is “Women in Medicine: Born to Lead,” and September 7 is the AMA-WPS Women in Medicine Day. Join the celebration—there are lots of ways to participate. Learn how here.

Visit the Academy’s social media pages to follow the buzz. Follow and use the #WIMmonth hashtag on social media. Share who inspires you, what it means to be a woman in medicine, a personal story or more.

To our women physiatrist members, thank you for leadership and commitment to the field of physiatry. Your work is advancing the impact of our specialty.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
