The National Quality Forum (NQF) is seeking nominations for patients to serve on the Cancer Standing Committee. This multi-stakeholder Standing Committee has been established to evaluate newly submitted measures and measures undergoing maintenance review and make recommendations for which measures should be endorsed as consensus standards. This Committee works to identify and endorse new performance measures for accountability and quality improvement that specifically address cancer care. Additionally, the Committee continues to evaluate consensus standards previously endorsed by NQF under the maintenance process. More information on this initiative can be found here.

Time Commitment and Responsibilities: Participation on this committee requires a significant time commitment (Dec. 2017 – Sept. 2018). To apply, nominees should be available to participate in all currently scheduled calls/meetings. Over the course of the Committee member’s term, additional calls may be scheduled or calls may be rescheduled based on project needs; new dates will be set based on the availability of the majority of the Committee. The attached document provides detailed information regarding the time commitment and the currently scheduled activities (1 orientation webinar, 11 webinar meetings). Standing Committee members will initially be appointed to a 2 or 3-year term.

Online nomination forms are due to NQF by Monday, November 13, 2017 6p EST.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
