AAPM&R State Advocacy: New York Nurse Practitioners Seek to Remove Collaborative Arrangements with Physicians

Members & Publications

May 17, 2021

On May 17, 2021, your Academy’s State Advocacy Committee released a call to action asking all members in New York to join AAPM&R and the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) in opposing S.3056-A/A.1535-A. The proposed legislative bills would eliminate statutory requirements for nurse practitioners to maintain collaborative arrangements with a physician practicing in the same specialty. The legislation would also eliminate the requirement for a newly practicing nurse practitioner to maintain a written collaborative agreement with a physician. Learn more about what your Academy is doing to defend physiatrists' scope of practice.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
