On Friday September 10, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $25.5 billion in new COVID-19 provider funding.  This includes $17 billion for the Provider Relieve Fund (PRF) Phase 4 as well as $8.5 billion in resources for providers who serve rural Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicare patients.  PRF funding will be based on lost revenues and expenditures between July 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.  HHS also announced a 60-day grace period for providers seeking to comply with the PRF Reporting Time Period deadline of September 30, 2021.  For more information about the Phase 4 funding and application process, visit the Health Resources & Services Administration website.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
