AAPM&R's Advocacy Efforts Included in COVID Health Equity Task Force Report

On November 17, the Presidential COVID Health Equity Task Force released its final report and recommendations on mitigating health inequities caused by or exacerbated by COVID-19. As a result of many meetings we had with the Task Force over the past year, we are thrilled that the Task Force's report includes recommendations to address Long COVID, many of which are a direct result of our advocacy on how to best address the Long COVID crisis. There were several additional recommendations that aligned with our advocacy beyond Long COVID as well.

Of the 55 priority recommendations, nearly 20 are directly aligned with our advocacy. These included recommendations such as "accept all patients and offer community resources at long COVID care centers," and "reducing barriers to testing, vaccinations and treatment" of COVID-19 and Long COVID.

We will be releasing more information on the thorough report in the upcoming days. View a comprehensive collection of our comments to the Health Equity Task Force.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
